Professional Appointments: Concertmaster, Vienna Hofburg Theatre, 1882 (in succession to Jacob Dont); Concertmaster, Bilse Orchestra, Berlin, 1884; Concertmaster, Boston Symphony Orchestra, 1885-1903; Head of violin department at New Institute of Musical Art, New York (now the Julliard School), 1905-26.

Kneisel Quartet, founded in 1885. Second violin - Emmanuel Fiedler, Otto Roth (1886), Karl Ondriček (1900), Julius Theodorowicz (1901), Julius Roentgen (1907); viola - Louis Svencenski; cello - Fritz Giese, Anton Hekking (1890), Alwin Schroeder (1891), Willem Willeke (1907). Kneisel Quartet disbanded in 1917.

Pupils: Joseph Fuchs, Lilian Fuchs, Robert Talbot, Joan Field.
