Professional appointments: Leader at the Royal Italian Opera, Covent Garden, London (from 1851), leader at the New Philharmonic Society and the Royal Choral Society. Violin Professor, London Academy of Music (1867), Principal of LAM (1890).

Pupils: Elgar, Kate Chaplin.
